I thought it was time that I become a part of wordpress. I can’t say how often I might update as I write in other areas plus there’s work, classes and life in general but will see what I can do.
Today was a mostly good day and work was busy as it usually is on a Friday. I work as a part time cashier at a WalMart by the way and I’ve been working there since March. I don’t mind when it’s busy and there’s always someone interesting who comes through the line and either makes me want to laugh, roll my eyes or want to talk more to. A customer came through my line who seemed to be in a pretty good mood but turned sour when said customer found out that my mini scanner wasn’t working. I politely asked the customer to hand me the cat litter so that I could scan it. I so wasn’t prepared when the 30-45 pound bag of cat litter was thrown at me and had to bite back screaming or saying a not so nice word as my finger was trapped between the litter and outer metal part that is right next to the button to move the belt. The customer gave me the oddest look, almost as though it was enjoyable to see me in pain. I managed to ring through the litter and then the customer was mad about the card slider not working as fast as wanted. I was so relieved when the customer left and I could breathe a sigh of relief. My wrist as well as my finger was throbbing. It was a bit swollen and bruised but most of the pain went away after a half hour or so. I mentioned what had happened to a manager but chose not to file a report because it seemed silly and it wasn’t as though the finger was that swollen and the bruising was fading. She checked up on me a few times to see how I was doing which I really appreciated. Other than that, there weren’t any finger crushes. I did drop a few cans but thank goodness didn’t drop any glass ones. I felt like such a klutz.
Very excited at the thought of possibly taking a photography class at the local Tech College. A family member was looking at some pictures I took of my cousin’s graduation as well as graduation party and really thinks I should try taking some classes to see what will turn up. So I am going to give it my best shot and see what I come up with. I heard about it through a flyer at work and I thought I might as well give it a shot. It’s a bit pricey but the professor teaching is one of my favorite local photographers so if all goes well, I will be in the class! I went to the college today to see what I could learn but the doors are closed so will need to call them later to see what I can do though the class isn’t until September so I have a bit of time. It will be held every Thursday evening for three weeks from 5:30-9:30. Not sure if I’ll have to register as an actual student or will be defined as some other class as technically while it is a course, it is a Life Course which I take to mean that it’s similar to a summer course you can take for fun. Would be awesome if there was a creative writing class too!
Since checking out the Tech was a bust, I thought to check the library but sadly it had closed by the time I got out of work at 5pm. In the mood to get lost in books for a while, I went to the local bookstore. I not only love the bookstore but the owners are awesome as well. They make THE best mango smoothie and I usually get one when I go in there. Today I went on an impulse and decided to buy a book. I had been meaning to for a while but kept on putting it off. Seeing as I had a rather long day, I wanted to treat myself and with a book well.. I just love having books around. The book I chose is called The Skin Map by Steven Lawhead. Until today I had not heard of it but from looking at the back cover it seems like the kind of book I would like. Due to the fact that I’m reading other books at the moment and busy with work as well as getting ready for my next set of classes, it will probably be a while until I can get to it. One of my uncles who is married to my mom’s sister is going to be going on a trip shortly with his wife. They will be gone for a couple of weeks and I realized that he might want to check it out. So I’ve loaned it to him for the time being and figure by the time he’s done with it maybe then I will have time to read it. Will have to see how things go.
I am excited about going shopping with my cousin tomorrow. We are heading to LaCrosse to check out the mall and it will be great to have a day away from the area for a bit. Have thought about possibly moving to LaCrosse but not in the cards right now so will have to see how things go, plus it’s at least 45 min from work and if I have to work sometimes at 7 am, there’s no way I want to be traveling on the road at 5 or so in the morning . Also there’s keeping my poor Alejandro in mind. Which is my 1987 Jeep Grand Cherokee who is currently at over 297,000 miles so yea… my poor guy has sure been around the bend. Eventually I plan to get a different vehicle but that will need to wait for a bit.
Anyways, I’m rambling and I want to go do some reading as well as do a few other things before heading to bed.
