“Do you want me to make love to you?”

“Yes,” I said, wiggling my legs against Ian’s. “But we’re not going to.”

“Because you don’t like to be touched?” he asked.

“Because it would ruin us working together.” I snuggled back into his chest, sighing in relief. “Maybe someday, but not now. I have far too much to learn from you.”

He may have replied, but I didn’t hear it. I drifted off to sleep happy and content that I had made a decision, a wise decision, one that my adult self-approved.

That contentment lasted all of three hours, until I woke up lying on top of Ian, my borrowed tank top having ridden up so that my bare stomach was plastered all over his. My legs were caught between his thighs, and worst of all, I could feel the heat of his groin against mine.

It made my intimate parts do wondrously tingly things, sensations I hadn’t felt in a long time. I took a deep breath in preparation for peeling myself off Ian, but his low grown had me freezing. “Are you OK?” I asked in a whisper, not wanting to wake him up if he was dreaming.

“Not in the least bit. Stop wiggling against me in that seductive manner.”

“I’m not wiggling anything.”

His hands clamped down over my hips, making my little “trying to scoot off of him” movements obvious. “You’re trying to drive me insane. Don’t deny you are—for the last twenty minutes, you’ve tormented me every way possible, clearly trying to push me past what’s bearable. Admit it, admit that you are trying to drive me mad with desire.”

“I was asleep.” I peeled myself off his stomach and sat up, pulling my legs out from between his and sitting astride his thighs. “I’m sorry if I was tormenting you in my sleep, but I didn’t intend anything. Hoo boy. Sitting like this did not help things, huh?”

I looked down to where a very obvious bulge in his pants was pressed up against the thin material of my sleeping shorts.

He made a choked noise that didn’t contain any actual words.

“You’re really…wow. Do you mind if I touch?”

“Why not?” he managed to get out, a touch of hysteria about the words. “It seems entirely reasonable given that you’ve been sleeping on me for the last hour, torturing me with your soft belly, and your breasts, and the way you breathed on me. Why not touch me too?”

“I don’t want to ruin our relationship,” I said, wishing I could just peel off his pants and have at it. I wondered if his offer to do just that was meant in earnest, or if he was being sarcastic. In my sleep-muddled state, I couldn’t tell. “It means a lot to me that you’re teaching me. Will you promise that it won’t affect my training?”

“I promise.”

The Lucky Dress Blog Tour

Good morning,

I am so very excited to talk about a book that I recently finished. I was asked if I would like to join in on a Bookish Blog Tour and of course I said yes. I was given a digital ARC for review though I would like to point out that it hasn’t influenced my review and all thoughts are my own. So grab a soothing cup of tea or whichever is your beverage of choice and be prepared to read about me gushing over this wonderful book!

My Thoughts:

This book had me laughing, cringing with sympathy and rooting for Emi to finally get her happily ever after. Life has a way of throwing curve balls that sometimes turn out to be just the thing that was needed.
Jack and Emi are meant to be together or at least that seems to be the case until Emi walks in on Jack in a rather compromising position with his new assistant. She is understandably upset and calls off their wedding which was to happen in two days. Emi decides to move from Oregon to Texas with her best friend to get a fresh start and figures eventually she’ll move on from the heartache.

A year later she finds herself back in Oregon to celebrate the upcoming nuptials of her twin brother Evan and his fiancee Hannah (who is Jack’s sister) . Little does Emi know how much that week will change her life and that maybe she’ll get all that she’s wanted with her lucky dress in tow.

Throughout the story, the timeline would jump back and forth from the present to instances with Jack and Emi. It took a bit to click but once I realized what was going on, it made perfect sense to show the history of these two people who were madly in love. Sometimes bad things happen to good people that take a long time to be sorted through. My heart ached for these two people who seemed perfect for each other until that fateful day just before their wedding. Sometimes though, it’s important to take a moment to step back and see the bigger picture. By the end of this book, I was rooting for two people that I didn’t think I would!

I loved the great relationship that Amelia had with her kids as well as the healthy relationship she had with Emi and Evan. It was a relief to not read about a crazy Mother-in-law and instead about a woman who is powerfully rich, not to be messed with but also not vindictive. I wouldn’t want to get on her bad side but if you’re a decent person who isn’t out to get those she cares about, she’ll have your back.

I also loved the relationship that Emi had with Hannah who seemed a bit on the crazy side but didn’t turn into a Bridezilla at her own wedding. It was evident just how in love she is with Evan and what an adorable couple they make!

One character that I really didn’t like was Greta. She made things so difficult for Emi and she is one crazy spoiled woman. She may be a beauty according to some but there is certainly not much for kindness to be had. I can see why Emi didn’t care for her and not just because Greta was the reason Emi was fired from a job that she enjoyed. That’s just the start of what that crazy woman is capable of!

This book was a wonderful mix of just what I love when it comes to reading stories that involve weddings, possible second chances, romance, family and a healthy amount of laughter. I’m so very glad I read this book and I hope there will be a sequel!

About The Author:

Aimee Brown is a writer of romantic comedies set in Portland, Oregon, and an avid reader. She spends much of her time writing, raising three teenagers, binge-watching shows on Netflix and obsessively cleaning and redecorating her house.

She’s fluent in sarcasm and has been known to utter profanities like she’s competing for a medal.

Aimee grew up in Oregon, but is now a transplant living in cold Montana with her husband of twenty years, three teenage children, and far too many pets. She is a lot older than she looks and yes, that is a tattoo across her chest.

Aimee is very active on social media. Stop by and say hello!
