Two Recently Released And Highly Anticipated Books

Hi fellow bookworms,

I have been bogged down with work and trying to keep up with way too many Readathons. Also I’ve been attempting to keep up with new releases which there have been a lot of this year that I can’t wait to dive into! Speaking of new releases, I have a couple that have been on my radar and are from Grand Central Publishing.

Blurb:

Earl. War hero. Notorious rake. After the Battle of Waterloo, Eli Dawes was presumed dead-and would have happily stayed that way. He’s no longer the reckless young man he once was, and only half as pretty. All he wants is to hide away in his country home, where no one can see his scars. But when he tries to sneak into his old bedroom in the middle of the night, he’s shocked to find someone already there.

Rose Hayward remembers Eli as the arrogant lord who helped her late fiancé betray her. Finding him stealing into her art studio doesn’t correct her impression. Her only thought is to get him to leave immediately. Yet the tension between them is electric, and she can’t help but be drawn to him. He might be back from the dead, but it’s Rose who is suddenly feeling very, very much alive.

Blurb:

Hope Anderson is at a crossroads. At thirty-six, she’s been dating her boyfriend, an orthopedic surgeon, for six years. With no wedding plans in sight, and her father recently diagnosed with ALS, she decides to use a week at her family’s cottage in Sunset Beach, North Carolina, to ready the house for sale and mull over some difficult decisions about her future.
Tru Walls has never visited North Carolina but is summoned to Sunset Beach by a letter from a man claiming to be his father. A safari guide, born and raised in Zimbabwe, Tru hopes to unravel some of the mysteries surrounding his mother’s early life and recapture memories lost with her death. When the two strangers cross paths, their connection is as electric as it is unfathomable . . . but in the immersive days that follow, their feelings for each other will give way to choices that pit family duty against personal happiness in devastating ways.
I’m so happy that it finally feels like Fall so I can hopefully curl up with these two books soon with a hot cup of tea, blanket and have even more excuses to stay inside with a book (not that I need many).
I hope you all are diving into anticipated reads and enjoying the beautiful Fall weather no matter where you are. Thank you so much for dropping buy and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Blinding Night Review

Blinding Night Review

Good morning,

I was recently asked if I would like to read an ARC of a Greek retelling and of course I said yes. I find retellings of classic tales fascinating and this particular one caught my eye. I received an ARC in exchange for a revore though it doesn’t affect my thoughts and all comments are my own.

Isn’t that cover amazing? It’s so pretty and really matches the theme of the book!

There’s also a really neat book trailer if you’d like to see that as well. It gave me chills!

My Thoughts

This book is a modern twist on the popular tale of Persephone and Hades. Across the years there have been many different versions and they’ve all had their pull. For me, I’ve always been drawn to the more romantic versions and in this story, there’s not only romance but the devotion of two people across the centuries.

Summer is a young woman from Rhode Island who has just recently finished her first year of college and is looking forward to enjoying her vacation. Instead of getting to spend long hours with friends and by the pool, her Archaeologist parents convince her to go with them to spend time in Greece while they are at a dig site. Feeling restless her first nightvin Greece while her parents go out, she decides  doto Littlego for a run and finds herself near a beach. Deciding to dip her toes in, she accidentally cuts her foot on a peace of choral. Little does does realize how that one choice will change her life forever and just may be the start of an adventure she’s been looking for.

Shortly afterwards, she’s riding in a car with her parents to check out the local sights to be had and hopefully enjoy a bite to eat of regular food. Alas something tragic happens where she winds up in the hospital where she encounters one of the most handsome men she’s ever seen who is about to shake her world up even more than it already has been.

This man who refers to himself as Darce insists that she’s the reincarnated version of Persephone and that he is Hades. Summer naturally thinks he’s crazy and just wants to be with her Dad again.

It will take courage, a leap of faith, determination and an open mind to not only help Summer see that the mysterious Darce may be telling the truth and she could very well be a version of Persephone and maybe just maybe it’s finally time to be reunited with a world that she forgot existed.

This is a story that’s not only about love but the power of soulmates and the centuries of aching that poor Darce has had to endure while searching for the reincarnations of his beloved Persephone. In this version, he truly is a devoted man who doesn’t give up easily which is one of many endearing qualities he has.

I loved getting to know both Summer and glimpses of Darce. Both are wonderful characters who truly should be together and those who wish to keep them apart should butt out. I have a soft spot for star-crossed lovers and I truly hope that things will work out for them.

Also I really like Morpheus and I hope that he may find his own happily ever after. After all the times he’s been there for others, he’s more than due!

Full of mystery, adventure, the power of love, mutholoy, Greek Gods and Goddesses and humor, it’s a book I highly recommend. I can’t wait for the next book in the series because it ended on quite the cliffhanger and I’m so ready to know what happens next!

Well that wraps up my bookish ramblings for now. I hope you’ve enjoyed my thoughts and may you enjoy the book as much I have. Thank you so much for dropping by and feel free to stop in again. Until next time,

Happy Reading!
