I Participated In Dewey’s Spring 24 Hour Readathon!

Happy Sunday!
I had so much fun challenging myself to actively participate in reading for Dewey’s Readathon . This was the first time since learning about the readathon that I’ve been able to participate more than a couple of sporadic hours because I didn’t have to work and no other plans were made.

I am for sure feeling a book hangover which makes me want to sleep all day now but also I want to keep reading so I can finish a book I almost completed during the readathon and also see how much more I can read today. Oh the problems of a bookworm!

Reading Stats:

Books Read: 2 1/2 (I read the last half of a book I started before the readathon)
Books Started but didn’t finish: 2
Total pages: 1000
Total Time: 9 hrs 20 min

Favorite Book: The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor

I also finished a book for my O.W.L.s as I’m participating in a Magical Readathon and I am almost done with another book! I can then say I’ve completed the initial tests to become Trader of Magical Tomes! I still have two challenges I want to complete for the optional Seminars because choosing just one seemed impossible. Sometimes challenging myself to read so many books in a short amount of time takes on a whole new level!

Hope you’ve had a relaxing reading weekend whether you chose to participate in the readathon or not! Looking forward to hopefully participating in the next one and challenge myself to read even more!

Happy Reading!

A Stolen Heart Blog Tour

Happy Saturday!

It’s a beautiful day here in the Midwest and I’m so glad to be able to have a porch to sit on and enjoy a bit of fresh air.

Recently I was asked if I’d like to join in on a blog tour of an author who I haven’t read before and a book I hadn’t heard of until recently. I’m always up for new bookish experiences and the premise sounded very interesting.

I was sent an ARC though please note that all thoughts and opinions are my own.

A Stolen Heart by Kayelle Allen

Where To Pre-Order (available May 11th)

Amazon

My Thoughts:

Luc Saint-Cyr is an Immortal has been exiled from his home planet Sempervia over thirty-four hundred years ago and has many regenerations since then. He has spent a good portion of his lives being local to his king Pietas who also used to be his lover and no matter where he goes, is always willing to be of service even when halfway across the galaxy. He’s established himself as a successful businessman, having several fleets and feels as though things may slowly be falling into place.

When Pietas requests that Luc locate a special missing child whose parents are powerful Scientists, he knows he can’t say no despite several reservations because loyalty is something that he has always tried to take seriously. Pietas stresses how important it is to find the child as soon as possible before the parents get out of hand and could have consequences. There is also the lure that if Luc is successful, Pietas will attempt to mostly leave him be.

Luc has no idea what kind of adventure he’s in for nor just how much this mission could change his life once he lays eyes on a very special child which may be just the thing that Luc needs. Sometimes life takes a person down different paths and life can be full of surprises.

This book was a fascinating mix of adventure, sci-fi, a dash of romance, intrigue, mystery and so many surprises. I’m glad to have a chance to read this book and am looking forward to reading more about this Universe.

Well that wraps up my bookish ramblings for the time being. I hope that your Saturday is going well and may you have many hobbies to be a welcome distraction during these strange times. I will return soon for more bookish content.

Happy Reading!

My Greek Island Blog Tour

Good afternoon,

I hope you’re finding many things to keep you occupied during this difficult time and may you have plenty of books on your TBR to help the time fly by. Speaking of books, I recently read a book that certainly took my mind off of current events and happens to be set in one of many areas I’d love to vacation some day.

I was asked if I would like to join in on the blog tour and of course I said yes because I knew it would be a lot of fun. My post is going up a bit late as I mixed up the date but I still wanted to talk about my thoughts. Before I go too much further, I would like to note that I was generously sent a digital ARC via Netgalley through the publisher and all thoughts are my own.

My Thoughts:

This book was such a fun get away to take my mind off things and I loved the concept of deciding to take a vacation to such a beautiful area with the idea of house sitting and things not going quite according to plan but in the best sense.

Becky has always been known as the very reliable one. The first person to always arrive on time at the That’s A Wrap sandwich business she’s helped run with her sister and usually the last one to leave. She’s dependable, has lots of imagination and loves helping her customers discover new ways to enjoy sandwiches. Recently her sister Megan seems to just want to boss people around, spend time getting clients but not to help with making the sandwiches and hasn’t taken some of Becky’s ideas into consideration.

When Becky finds out that Megan is going to be taking a vacation in August with her boyfriend and wants to hire a stranger to help run things in her absence instead of asking someone who is already a part of the business to take over temporarily, Becky has had enough.

Taking a much needed break, she decides to take a vacation to Corfu, Greece which she found online where someone is in need of a house sitter for a couple of weeks. Becky has never done anything so drastic but what better time to take a vacation than one that’s much needed and spur of the moment?

Excited for this new adventure while also being nervous at the thought of going to a place she’s never been to, Becky is about to be on the adventure of a life time with quite the interesting people and experiences to be had, some of them quite unexpected.

When she finds herself unexpectedly detoured once due to plane boarding delays and a second time due to weather, Becky finds herself making friends Petra who is traveling the world and Elias who is a divorce lawyer and who have their own reasons for traveling and become friends over the course of a couple of days. Together they will explore areas of Greece, enjoy delicious food and form a bond that probably wouldn’t have happened if such unexpected delays hadn’t happened.

This was such a fun book and I’m so glad to have gotten a chance to read an early copy. I recommend checking it out particularly if you’d love to go on a vacation like me to such a beautiful area!

This book was full of adventure, laughter, the power of friendship, unexpected twists, a healthy dash of romance and so much more. I am looking forward to reading more by Mandy in the future.

Well that wraps up my bookish ramblings for the time being. I hope you’ve enjoyed them and I will be back soon with more bookish thoughts.

Happy Reading!

Magical Readathon April 2020

Happy Wednesday,

It’s hard to believe that it’s already April and that Spring is just about here. Every morning I love to hear the birds sing particularly ones that I’ve heard since I was a little girl though I couldn’t tell you what the names of those birds are.

Speaking of being young. one of my favorite readathons of the year starts today which is inspired by Harry Potter which I have been reading since I was around the same age as Harry. The books have a very nostalgic spot in my heart and now so does this readathon as it’s the third year of running. I was so excited that I even brought out my book journal (Ravenclaw pride for the win!) and had some fun with using letter stamps as well as stickers and a bit of digital manipulation. I’m not artistically inclined when it comes to sketching so have to be creative with using items that were designed by people who are! If anyone happens to know of a lovely bookstack rubber stamp and bookish stickers, please let me know. So enough about my artistic skills, it’s time to get to the more exciting parts!
