I love reading a variety of books and sometimes it’s nice to read collections of short stories. Speaking of short stories, I was asked if I’d like to read a short story collection with quite the interesting title and write down my thoughts. Of course I jumped at the chance as I do enjoy finding out whether the stories connect or if they’re separate and figuring out the general theme. So I thought I’d take a bit of time and write down my thoughts on this collection which was full of surprises. Thank you so much to Meerkat Press for reaching out to me about the Blog Tour!
This was quite the interesting collection of stories. Told in multiple points of view, there’s a sense of the modern mixed with the supernatural that are interwoven as one. The stories have a wide range of topics, many of them gruesome, others that are rather strange and yet so compelling that it keeps you reading to know what may come of the characters and most the stories are left open-ended and up to the reader as to what the ending could have been.
It’s hard to fully explain what each of the stories contain without giving spoilers and though some of the stories tackled some rather deep topics that were hard to read about, it was hard to stop reading because I really wanted to know how things would turn out and liked that fact that many of the stories were not very long.
This is my first time reading Keith Rosson as an author and now I’m very much curious to continue to read what he writes and whether he’ll continue to mix similar themes in his other works.
I highly recommend checking out this collection of stories especially if you enjoy a mix of the modern, supernatural and a touch of the dark.
Trigger warnings: death, violence, fires, cults, mentions of child abuse
Well that wraps up my bookish ramblings for the time being. Hope you’re having a wonderful month so far and I will return soon with more ramblings.
